I came across a great article and video from PGA teacher to the pros, Sean Foley.
He's the Putting Guru for the top players. In the article and video he explained that its so important to practice real game situations in regards to putting. He was talking more about doing many putts from different distances, and reading each putt to see where the break point is, and learn to get a feel for the stroke you need to sink putts anywhere from short ones to long ones.
But for our purposes here on the blog we're focusing our putting tips on short putts.
So from Sean's article and what I got from it, and I'm showing you is, when you're practicing short putts---not to focus on just one distance. Do it from 2 to 5 or 6 feet at most.
But...
Do 2 footers one day, 3,4 and 5 footers other days. That way you're focusing on certain short putting distances and really honing in on how to do them so you "get them." Sean never said whether you should do certain putting distances one day and then concentrating on another distance in another practice session. But I would practice one distance a practice session or you're just going in many directions and not accomplishing anything.
I actually thought about interviewing him. We'll see.
It was still a great article and video.
