This is a dead simple way to keep them better aligned and go in more often.
Okay, first of all put a black mark on your ball and line up that mark with the middle of your putter club head face. It will give you a good point of reference. This other part I'll keep simple as well since I don't believe you need perfect mechanics. That will only make your game worse, especially if you have major break points in your putts.
For this putting tip we'll stick to straight shots for now. But remember to line up the mark on the ball with the middle of the putter club head. Now, you do have to use a bit of half-way decent mechanics. Just sayin'.
It's not sexy but you have to do the boring stuff to get better as a putter. Okay, keep your elbows in to your sides and move your putter and hands like a pendulum or hinge, back and forth beside the ball. Focus on just moving your forearms with the swing. and look at the ball and the hole. Just when you hit the ball make sure your club head sweet spot is lined up with the mark on the ball. Then just before you hit the ball make sure you look at the hole.
if you don't see what's going on and getting your bearings as to where the hole is, even the best mechanics won't help you hole more putts. Do some 2 and 3 foot putts this way. If you need to, do some tap-ins first so you get the handle on this stupid simple short putting tip. Start doing this tip on more straight ahead shots before worrying about doing ones that break like crazy.
I hope this helps your putting. print this out and take it to the course with you. Ask a golf pro what they think. I'd be interested to know what your golf pro thinks. But my aim to help you the golfer get better at putting period.
Much putting success to you.
