Short Putting Tip Even Tiger Woods Would Use--And Should

I've been thinking a lot lately about Tiger Woods and why when he has short putt issues, every golfer better listen and learn. He's still one of the very best Putters and golfers who's always hot on the heels of today's best golfers.

Tiger was having issues with some 2 and 3 foot Putts in tournaments recently, and that got me thinking why you guys need regular short putting practice. A lot of still think you don't need it. I beg to differ there lads.

If you still think you don't need short putting practice you better take up basket weaving while on trendy chemical amusement aid. Maybe you'll find your zen there. But I digress.

Here's a simple short putting routine you can do weekly.

Okay, start off with some tap in putts for a couple of minutes just to warm you up. Now for the next 5 minutes do some 2 footers. Then another 5 minutes of 3 footers. Don't stop if you miss. Just get use to
the feel of your short putts on impact and how far back and forward you need to take your putting stroke.

Don't worry so much about mechanics. It's just doing it that counts more than anything. 12 minutes a day 3  days a week. Can't commit to that then cut it in half to 6 minutes. Even at 6 minutes 3 times a week that's 18 minutes a week, 72 minutes a month and 864 minutes a year.

If you can commit to even that you'll have great short putting success with your 2 and 3 footers which can be a problem in increasing your round scores, which you don't want. I realize these tips are simple and anyone can do them. But most golfers and instructors only talk about the sexy stuff like long putts and being able to drive 300 yards. Good luck with all that.

But the simple basic stuff like tap-in putts, 1, 2 and 3 footers are what will help your game more than the rest of that crap. Still don't believe me?  Give my short putting tip here a try and get back to me with your results.

I personally think even Tiger, Loren Roberts or Brad Faxon--all great golfers and putters, would use my little un-sexy short putting tip.

Thanks guys and much success on the green.

Tap In Putting--The Most Important Fundamental That Will Help Your On Green Game

Yep, starting from a foot or less from the cup is where to start practicing. I've said it time and time again, you need to start from the ground floor and that's doing Tap in practice, and lots of it. Most of you don't think you need to but it will help your game immeasureably. Just grab 4 or five balls and put them about 6 inches to a foot around the cup. Just start doing tap-ins for about 5 to 10 minutes. Do some tap-ins really close from 3 to 6 inches for 5 minutes, and some from 9 to 12 inches for another 5 minutes.

This way you're switching it up a bit but still focusing on doing tap-ins only. By doing tap-ins you're getting some practice in and you're able to control your putts more. It's harder than you think to control tap-in putts and short putts for that matter. Why do you think Tiger was having issues with his short putts of 2 and 3 feet?

The tap-in putts above you should do at least twice a week. That way you can start doing longer putts and end up being more confident in your Short Putting when it really matters in a tournament, with your buddies or even your co-workers. Then you can brag about your putting prowess and where you got your putting tips from. From good old Markie over here at Short Putting Cures. It's simpler than you think guys, you just need to practice regularly. There's no big giant secret that the Pros or the top Putting Teachers don't want you to know. Nothin' like that at all.

It's all about fundamentals in your Tap-ins and Short Putting. and like I said practice, practice, practice.

Tap In Putts Are More Important Than Any Other Putt--And How To Do Tap Ins

Howdy guys...

Okay, you may think that Tap-ins are so easy that you shouldn't do them and just focus on long putts. Wrong move lads. It's like being a guitarist who knows how to do fast heavy metal, but can't do slow blues, and thinks anyone can do it.Wrong again.

You need a foundation for Putting, and that base is doing Tap-ins. You need a beginning and work from there. So I'll give you a little Tap-in Putting routine that you can use to your benefit.

Start by doing Tap-ins literally from the lip of the cup. Just put 4 balls around the cup and do this for 3 minutes. Now move your 4 balls back about half a foot and do taps for another 3 minutes. Now go back to a foot and a half and do taps for another 3 minutes. Believe me it gets tougher even at a foot and a half. Tiger has
had issues with 2 and 3 footers believe it or not.

There's a reason to do Tap-ins right there. From the best golfer in my mind, Tiger. This Tap-in routine you can do every day. Include extra tap ins and do it for another 3 to 5 minutes.By doing very short, short putting sessions of 10 to 15 minutes, you'll be more apt to stick with it and not quit. And you'll be a better Golfer period.

Just try it out. I think you'll be surprised.

Much success on the green guys.

Here's The Real Secret To Putting Success--Well Not Really, But Here's A Tip That's Just As Good

Had ya goin' didn't I? I'm not a scammer and I don't sell anything off my site, or fool with ads on my blog.

Okay, this is something you have to do guys. If you don't you won't succeed at putting. At least in my mind. No, it's not sexy but it's basic Putting fundamentals you need to follow. Do this tip for a week and include it in your regular putting routine.

Just 10 minutes a day guys. That's it. You can do that for old Mark here, and to make your little old Puttin' game that much better. Right? I thought so. I'm starting to sound like an old codger who tells everybody to do it or else. Reminds me of my old teacher Mrs. Hearn who used to pull my ear really hard if I screwed up or acted like an asshole in class. Or she'd give you a cuff in the head just to make you fly right. Remember those days in the 60's and 70's guys? Thought ya would. Now a teacher can't do shit.

Anyway, back to Putting. Here's the big secret to Putting. Well, it's not really a secret. There is no secret guys, get over it.

Here's how to start. Do tap-ins 10 minutes a day four days a week. If Phil Mickleson does them on the sidelines at tournaments between rounds or holes, you need to do them too. Don't tell me he needs to do them more because money is on the line, go away from this blog. If you love golf and want to succeed at it you need to do tap-ins.

Okay, do taps for 10 to 15 minutes four times a week. They're tougher than you think if you practice them regularly. It may seem super boring, but it works. If Phil does it, you need to. I'll have what you need to do next besides tap-ins next week. So stay tuned. Any questions just email me at: mdgrove@rock.com

Okay, Back To Tap-In Putts The Foundation Of Becoming a Great Putter

The only way to become a great Putter is to start pretty much just inches away from the cup. Your ability to control the speed, alignment and way you hit your tap-ins and short putts will hold you well when you start doing longer putts like 5 footers and beyond.

Alright, start by doing tap-ins for 5 minutes. Keep your eye on how you hit the ball. If you actually miss a tap-in start over. This will make it tougher. You can even hit the ball too far when doing tap-ins and this is one time you should start over if you miss one. Also keep an eye on putt stroke control of how far your putt goes. If  your tap-ins always hit the back of the cup constantly, back off on your tap-ins or you'll miss some tappers.

Ya' see, there's more to this tap-in stuff than meets the eye. I consider tap-ins 6 inches to a foot at the most. Do five minutes of 6 inch putts, and 5 of 1 footers. Think it's too easy, then try it. You need a foundation of tap-ins and short putts to become a great putter. Do 10 minutes a day of tap-ins 3 or four times a week.

You can do this, it's tougher than it looks, but will make you a good putter if you don't stop practicing.

Short Putting--Tap-In Technique That Puts The Ball In Every Time--Well The Majority Of The Time

By You Know Who

To me tap-in putts are ones that are from literally less than 6 inches to a foot at the most. Like I keep saying this is your foundation to becoming a great Putter. Not just the pros can become great putters. You can as well. Don't kid yourself you can if you apply these simple tips. You're now saying, yeah, yeah I've heard it all before.

If you have why are you here at this site? Obviously you want to learn. I'm not a Putting guru just some schlub who writes about it. Okay, lets get going here. Do this in small chunks weekly. Start off by doing 4 inch putts for 5 to 10 minutes a day 5 days a week. Then the 2nd week 8 inch putts 10 minutes a day 5 days a week.
The 3rd week do your 12 inch putts.

You don't have 10 minutes a day 5 days a week free. Come on!

Think about it this way. Just bear with me. That's 10 minutes a day improving the game you love and you're away from the wife,Mother-in Law and the kids for 10 minutes. Make it 20 minutes if you feel so inclined.

This is your "away time" to zone out and do some dead simple tap-in putting tips. Kind of like your way of meditating.

Okay, back to the tap-in putting tip. After you've done 2 weeks of 4,8 and 12 inch putts for a week each, go back and do each for 2 weeks each. You're probably thinking, this is too easy Mark. Believe me it's tougher than you think to do 4,8 and 1 foot putts for 2 weeks straight of each. That's why you need the foundation of tap-in putts and short putts of just a few feet before moving on to 5,10,15 and beyond.

Try this routine out. 10 minutes a day 5 times a week doing 4 inch,8 inch and 1 foot putts. Don't deviate from this routine. You will succeed if you do this. As a disclaimer--Results not typical. If you don't practice this like I've described you won't succeed and progress. I can't guarantee you'll succeed, only that if you practice you'll get better. Kind of like being a guitar player. If they didn't practice they wouldn't be any good on-stage.

Stay motivated and much success on the green guys.

Here's a Tap-In Putting Routine:

Grab 10 balls and place them around the cup at a 6 inch distance from the hole. Stroke these Putts and then do it again. If you miss any go back and do them over again starting from the first one. It's more important you get your 6 inch and one foot putts down without question. if you don't you'll never have a solid foundation of Short Putts.

Short Putting and why it's so important to Putting Success

Do you think that long putts are more important than short putts? Maybe you do and that's okay. But you need a foundation or a base when it comes to Putting.

If you can't get your long putts down how do you expect to get your short putts in? You're probably thinking it's easy. Actually, getting a handle on Putt speed and aligment is tougher on short putts than long ones. The simpler things in Putting sometimes are harder. So keeping this in mind what you want to do is some tapin putts and short putts of a couple feet at the most.

So get started with some simple tapin putts and shorties. It's pretty simple but tough. That way when you start doing longer putts you'll have a handle on them and your golfing buddies will be in awe as you dazzle them with your short putting and even long putt prowess.

Just get started today guys.

Short Putting Cure For Those Pesky one and two foot Putts

By Mark Grove

shareinvisible

Preparation, planning and practice is the key to short putting excellence guys.I am reading a book about NFL Football coaching great Mike Shanahan. Basically, he says it doesn't matter what you're doing you need to prepare 150%.

Okay, if you're still having a problem with 2 foot putts that's not your problem.Start with what Guys? Come on.Tap ins,6 inch and 1 foot putts.Do
each ten to 15 minutes a day everyday.Just do tap ins one day then 6 inch putts, then 1 footers.Seems too simple? Try it.

Most will quit after a week or so.You need to do the shorter putts and get those down before the longer ones. After a month of my short putting routine
try the two footers and implement those into the practice mix.

This is easy stuff guys.10 to 15 minutes a day is bloody easy as pie.If you don't do the basics as I've outlined here, you won't succeed at putting.

Try it for the next two months, not a week two weeks or a month.

You'll succeed if you kust keep going.

Much success guys.

Short Putting Success Despite Your Failures

Yeah, putting for dough seems easy but most can't get a handle on simple putting basics. Short putting control is what's at stake and the best way to get a handle on it is to staart with what guys?

Tap-ins!!!

Tap-ins will give you a good indication of how much force your short putts
need on follow through more than long putts of 5 feet or more.Think about it,you're literally inches from the cup so it's safe to say that control of the follow through will tell the tale on if your speed is too much or just
right.

Practice tap-ins from 6 inches and see how much follow through you need.
Now,if you can drain 10 tap-ins,in a row move back another 6 inches and do
the same thing from a foot. If you miss go back until you get the last one.

Practice Tap-ins from 6 inches and a foot for 2 weeks 3 or 4 days a week
for 15 minutes. If you can't commit to this then quit. Yeah, quit. Why bother
playing.

Yeah, I'm a prick but who cares? Obviously not you. For those of you who do,practice your ass off fellow golfers.Okay after you've mastered tap-ins
and short putts from 6 inches and a foot keep going back in 6 inch increments. Practice for 2 weeks or as long as you need to.

It will get tougher as you go along.I would suggest using a good pro coach
at some point. It will help you even more than just solid practice daily.

Mastery of Short Putting and Tap-ins is what's vital here guys, with ball
control of the speed and putting path being more importaant than any body alignment bullshit.

Yeah, I keep repeating myself but if I don't you guys won't learn.
So focus on tap-ins and short putts. From 5 feet at the most.

Practice the above routine and go for it.You'll be heads above your buddies and some tour pros.
