The title of this article was, let's face it, to get you to read this article on how to become a great short putter. I can't guarantee you'll become a great short putter but if you just take some of these tips and use them on a weekly basis even in the wintertime, your putting--short putting that is will get better.
But you have to take action on all this. Now, don't go away thinking that guy doesn't know shit, and maybe I don't. But I know enough to know if you don't practice regularly, you won't get better at short putting. I'm off on a tangent here so I'm going to interject some of what I do as a business person into the mix here.
Okay, if I didn't start my cleaning and litter pickup business that I run my bank account had no chance of becoming filled with more money. If I didn't take that small risk and start scouring the landscape for business, I wouldn't have known what I was capable of. And because I did that I was able to convince other people to use my service and think of other ways to make cash in other types of business. I even do barter.
Now that's something you could do to become a a better short putter. Lets say your putting is horrible, and lets face it most of us are horrible putters. Here's what ya can do. Talk to that local golf pro and start a website like I have dedicated to putting and do some interviews with that golf pro. Ask him questions on putting. You could even contact local media and get him some exposure and get some free putting instruction. It won't really cost you any money. All it would cost is your time and not much of it.
Okay, enough said about that. Just something to consider guys if you think golf instruction is too costly.
Alright, back to short putting. You start off by doing 10 minutes a day 3 times a week. If you can't find 10 minutes a day three times a week to practice short putts, then you will never get better. Even doing 2 10 minute sessions a week will help you. That's 40 minutes a month and 480 minutes a year. Or close to 500 minutes because you'll sometimes go over the 10 minute mark.
Now back to actual tips. Start off by doing tap-ins from approximately one and two feet. That will get your feet wet as far as short putts go. Do this for the first week. If you do this 2 or 3 times a week and commit to it, you will get better. Or maybe not.
Think about this---What will happen if you don't practice short putts? Nothing. Unless you're naturally good, and even Tiger can't do that.
That's what pro golfers say to themselves, what will happen if I don't practice these types of short putts? Or even a business person will say---what will happen if I don't go into this business even though it won't cost me very much? Stop thinking and start practicing short putts guys.
I think you guys can succeed doing short putts.
