How to sink every golf putt you see
Long and Short Putting excellence
By Mark Grove
This is another repost that's so important for your putting. This putting tip will help your long and short putting so you have more of an instinctive feel when putting, and you won't be so nervous or
uncomfortable when putting. You'll be a better putter period.
Well here we are again for another round of, can I get my round score down by putting better? Of course you can, you just have to practice constantly. The best putters didn't get to be the best by practicing once or twice a week. Believe me you need to practice almost daily.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but the Pros practice until they've got it down, and then practice even more. You don't have to have natural talent to do this guys and gals. All right, start off by practicing long putts, because these will end up lowering your round score more than the short ones. Practice from at least 20 to 30 feet away.
Now, keep practicing these long putts until you're able to get at least 3 to five in in a row, within 2 to 3 feet.If you miss many long putts in a row, don't quit. Keep practicing from that distance, and putt from another angle which will give you a different perspective visually, and be able to approach those long putts with a little more confidence. It's hard, hard work and the ones who don't quit will reap the benefits of constant putting practice.
Getting your speed down is more important than anything else with long putts. Practicing your long putts from 20 to 30 feet from different angles will also progress your putting ability as a whole.
Short Putt Excellence:
Like I keep saying, putts that your grandma could tap in easily, you should practice constantly. Do these from different angles and slopes. These will be harder than some long putts for that reason. Practice these until you get 10 in a row in. Your short putts will be anywhere from 2 to 10 feet. It's even more imperative that you keep your putting alignment in check, and hit the sweet spot on your club head consistently.
Another method of short putt excellence is putting with your eyes closed. This will give you the ability to figure out how hard to actually hit the ball in relation to the putting distance. Do this for your long putts as well. Just look at where the hole is and set your ball up in front of your putter along with proper alignment of your body to the hole.
Visualize where the hole is in front of you. Open your eyes and setup again, then close your eyes and visualize again. Do this one more time. Now, move away to the side of the ball and try this without the ball, only closing your eyes and taking some practice shots.
This will give you a real feel, not just on distance to the hole, but to visualize in your mind's eye how the green slopes, and any break in your putt, especially the long ones. I think if you continually use these short and long putt techniques, and truly work hard at them, your game will grow by leaps and bounds.
