How To Succeed At Putting By Knowing This Specific Thing

I asked one of my experts earlier this summer what he thought about a putting question that's been nagging me forever. Do golfers fail more at short putts than long putts? And is it a matter of practicing more or just mechanical issues with said putts.

That expert is Mark Harman from the US Golf Teachers Federation  which helps many golfers, golf associations and courses to better serve all the golfers out there from amateurs to pros. Mark is the Education Director for the usgtf  and a big part of what the USGTF is all about in helping golfers of all ages, and assisting courses and golf organizations to teach in a way that helps society as well.

Giving back is what the US Golf Teachers Federation is all about. Here is this short answer from Mark which I hope helps you out in your putting.

I was going through my spam folder and this was in there for some reason.  This is a tough question.  In playing with a lot of average golfers, I would say short putts.  Most people simply aren't as good at putting as they think they are, but most are able to two-putt from long range.  I would consider failing at long putts three-putting, and you just don't see it that often.

Most people also have poor putting mechanics.  Yes, they can practice more, but it probably won't do much good.  They need to get a lesson or two on putting and fix their mechanics.

There is Mark's answer. Just like what this blog is about. Focusing on short putting and practicing.

Thanks to Mark Harman. For more info on the USGTF just go over to usgtf.com
