33 Minutes to Putting Prowess
A lot of golfers figure if their mechanics are on the money they'll putt like a champ. Yes that's true to some degree. But if your head isn't kept still as you can during your putt, and hand setup isn't done properly as well-it can alter your putter club head alignment. This will alter your Club head position to the ball and eventual shot path, which will be off course.
Even before you keep your head stationary during your putt you will want to set up your hands on the putter grip so the club head is directly behind the ball, and in the path of the hole. First of all, place your CH behind the ball. To assist you further put a mark on top of the ball so you can place the CH behind the ball in the sweet spot. That is a great tip that quite a few pros and amateurs use -- resulting in better putting.
Now, don't put both hands on the grip at once because this tends to once again alter the club head position behind the ball. Put your right hand on the grip curling your fingers around it. Make sure the CH stays behind the ball. Now put your left hand above your right with your thumb going down the shaft, and your right hand gently curling around your left thumb. Practice putting your hands on the grip like this, about 5 to 10 times without altering the Club head's direction. A little tip is to put a little pressure on the CH behind the ball, to keep the CH in place behind the ball. Don't put too much pressure on the grass.
Now, to keeping your head still. If you can, get a club pro or a fellow golfer to put their hands on each side of your head to check to see if you're actually keeping your head still throughout your putting stroke. Your head should stay in line with the ball and the path of your ball. Besides body mechanics and hand positioning like I've outlined above. Along with keeping your head straight, will assist you in making straighter putting follow through. This will have you sinking more putts in 33 minutes.
